Possible Causes of Preventable Cancer

Current public perception of cancer is that it is something that is genetic and cannot be avoided. For many cancer cases this is true. But recent studies show that at least 33% of cancer cases could have been possibly preventable. That's one third of cancers that might have never happened. And of the rest, who knows how many really could have been prevented, or delayed if the patient had changed their lifestyle to an "Anti-Cancer Lifestyle". So, with that said, we have compiled a list of five huge lifestyle changes you can make to give yourself the best odds at avoiding cancer. They aren't all easy, but they pale in comparison to a battle with cancer.

1) Avoid Risk Factors/Carcinogens

You can't control genetics, but you can avoid known carcinogens, like the one found in the Possible Causes page. Smoking, Alcohol abuse, "unsafe" sex", indoor smoke from household use of solid fuels, contaminated injections, air pollution, sunlight exposure and many more are on the list of risk factors to avoid. For the full report on what to avoid, see our Cancer Causes page

2) Avoid an Unhealthy Diet

Many people know an unhealthy diet can lead to obesity and many heart problems, but did you know it also drastically increases your cancer risk? Obesity, lack of fruits and vegetables and a "fatty" diet all increase your odds for cancer in a number of ways. Also foods containing hydrogenated oils, MSG, artifical food coloring and chemicial preservatives are thought to promote cancer. The list of reasons to enjoy a healthy diet is a long one, hopefully this reason adds to your motivation.

3) Exercise

Exercise can obviously help prevent obesity which is a risk factor for cancer, but exercise can help prevent cancer in other ways too. As a direct result of inactivity hardening of the arteries is progressed causing the blood to become oxygen depleted. Your cells then attempt to get energy from blood sugar instead of oxygen which in short can support formation of cancer cells.

4) Take a Multi-vitamin

We recommend taking a credible multi-vitamin daily to support overall health and to give your cells the nutrition they need to stay healthy. Healthy cell life equals an anti-cancer lifestyle. Proper nutrition is a big step towards cancer prevention.

5) Eat "Superfoods"

While the list of "bad" foods is very long, there is also nice list of foods which are said to not only prevent but fight cancer. The list looks something like this: garlic, onions, broccoli, cabbage, berries, cauliflower, sprouts, wheat grass, and barley grass. Then there are the "super foods" that are said to have dramatic effects on cancer prevention and reversal such as: Spirulina, Chlorella, raw broccoli juice and cat's claw. We're not saying go switch to an all "Superfood" diet, but working these into your daily diet can do nothing but help nutrition and cancer prevention.
